Entitlement Administration Models
The entitlement management software solution combines centralized entitlement management policy governance with delegated administration. Entitlement management entities and functions can be controlled with an easy-to-use web-based administrative user interface. One standardized application with a user interface adapting to the entitlements of users enables unified administration practices across the organization.
The RM5 IdM solution has separate administrative domains for service providers, service users and for organizations that offer entitlement management as a service to other organizations. The data and functionality available to each user depend on his/her administrative domain and entitlements. The IdM system itself has been protected with detailed entitlements in order for the responsibilities and entitlements of administrators to be defined according to function and administrative domain.
Centralized Entitlement Administration
In the centralized administration model, administration is managed by a main service center or unit. This unit maintains the entitlement information of all organizations, services and users defined in the IdM system.
Delegated Entitlement Administration
The centralized model can be complemented by a delegated administration model. Administrative domains are managed separately, and the administrative tasks are delegated to internal or external stakeholders so individual business units or external partner organizations can look after their own administration tasks. This engages end user organizations and business partners, reduces time lost through bureaucracy and focuses responsibility.
The administrators of service customers can manage the users of their own organization and their entitlements. A service agreement limits the scope of administrative rights of a customer organization. Entitlements can only be given to services and resources included in the relevant service agreement.
Delegation to External Stakeholders
Administration can also be delegated to external stakeholders like partners or subcontractors. External organizations can maintain their own users and their entitlements. This engages the end user organizations and minimizes the administrative burden of the service provider organization.
